Task Flow — five-step proposal framework
01

Task Flow

Under a strict time limit, I first established a clear analytical framework to converge on a viable direction. The process breaks down into five steps:

  • STEP 01. Map out core product specs and price ranges.
  • STEP 02. Identify reference products for ID and CMF language.
  • STEP 03. Define the likely consumer profile.
  • STEP 04. Complement the strengths of both product lines.
  • STEP 05. Synthesize a product image and target user scenario.
Mood board — fusing lifestyle-tech with precision expression
02

Design Direction

Six keywords — Layered Stack, Gravitational Space, Precision Signal, Weightless Air, Transparent Layers, Tech Alert — form two poles: "Lifestyle Tech" for Ubiquiti and "Precision Expression" for ROG.

ROG's language conveys rebellious cyberpunk spirit and outward precision; Ubiquiti's instant impression is lifestyle tech and a coherent user experience.

For the ID integration, the direction leans toward space-oriented elements — elevating Ubiquiti's lifestyle-tech feel into ROG's gaming-cosmos aesthetic.
Design Concept — UFO form and cosmic tech imagery
03

Design Concept

Using UFO and space-cosmos elements, the lifestyle-tech feel is elevated into a cosmic-tech imagery.

The synthesized language conveys a new cosmic vision for ROG Gaming — moving away from the sharp angles and exposed structures typical of gaming hardware, and returning to restrained curves and a pure ritualistic lighting effect.

CMF & Lighting

Gaming products are shifting from outwardly loud to restrained expressions. In this design, ROG uses spatial depth to create varied lighting effects, allowing the product to remain understated.

  • Tech Iconography: Gloss-and-matte tooling texture builds a surface layer of technical detail.
  • UAP Indirect Lighting: Reinforces Ubiquiti UAP's signature ring lighting, adding a gravitational-field spatial feel that echoes the space theme.
  • Two-Stage Lighting: First stage shows a full light ring; second stage retains only the logo light — the release-and-hold rhythm reinforces the ritualistic feel.
  • Layered Translucency: Matte-textured PC creates visual depth through transparency and stacking.
Note: This proposal was completed under a live interview time limit, focusing on form language and emotional identity communication — it did not enter structural engineering or mass-production validation.
